Broiler and chick rates
What the state rate sheets published for live birds, dressed birds and day old chicks.
These are industry rates, not government data. They are set by state poultry associations and they are what the trade quotes, not a price any authority fixes. The rows marked “Broiler (live or dressed not stated)” are read every day from Today’s Broiler Rate (todaysbroilerrate.in), a commercial tracker that republishes the trade’s rate sheets market by market; it prints one figure per kilogram without saying whether that is live or dressed weight, and this page does not guess. The Karnataka rows marked “Broiler, live weight” come straight from the Karnataka Poultry Farmers & Breeders Association’s own suggested ex-farm rates (poultrykarnataka.net), read every day. A live weight rate and a dressed weight rate are different things, so they are never added together or averaged here.Every market on one line

- A live weight rate is for the bird as it stands. A dressed rate is for the cleaned carcass. The 2 are never comparable.
- Strains differ in what they fetch, so each strain keeps its own row and no strain is averaged into another.
- Where a sheet prints no unit, the unit column says so. Nothing is assumed.
- There is no national broiler rate. Anyone quoting one has averaged states that do not trade with each other.
- Egg rates are a separate series and sit on the egg rates page.
